Today, I simply offer a prayer for all of us below, as we journey through Holy Week towards Resurrection Sunday. At the bottom of the page you will find a PDF printable copy as well.
PRAYER
Beloved Lord,
Thank You for being so much more than we can even begin to imagine. Thank You for Your grace, mercy, compassion, and love which flood over us in measures of abundance beyond our comprehension. Thank You, Lord, for being immeasurable and inexhaustible!
Thank You, for not only being great and mighty, but for being intimate with the most minuscule details of our lives. Thank you for capturing the breadth of every one of our experiences for the entire length of our lives. Thank you for surrounding us in the heights of our best moments, and for embracing us in the depths of our hardest moments.
Lord, please help us to experience so much more of You today and in the coming weeks, months, and years. May we experience the many facets of who You are to greater degree and extent. Even then may we be in awe, wonder, and filled with gratitude that there is immeasurably more of You to encounter.
Lord, there are so many challenges, struggles, limitations, constraints, obstacles, and oppositions that we face daily in our journeys. Every moment of our days, we need so much more of You. But so often, we try to plow forward in our own effort and strength, only to find ourselves depleted and vulnerable to temptations of many kinds.
Lord, the present sufferings can seem insurmountable, unsurviveable, and wholly impossible. Horrific traumas. Physical cancers, maladies, ailments, and diseases of all sorts. Financial burdens, debts, and uncertainties. Growing responsibilities and dwindling resources. Losses, disappointments, and caverns of darkest grief. Mental and emotional storms, cyclones of fear, and torrents of anxiety. Relationships that are distant, cold from cut off communications, lifelessly abandoned, and recklessly broken. Jealousy, envy, insecurity, and doubt, running a muck. Spiritually darkness battling for territory on all fronts.
Yet despite all of this, You, Lord, are so much more! More for us. More in us. More through us.
As it says in Romans 8:37-39 (NIV), “No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
You are so much more, Lord. Immeasurably more! Abundantly more! Profusely more! Copiously more! Luxuriantly more!
May our response to Your richest blessings be that found in Ephesians 1:3-10 (NIV), “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love he predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will – to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves. In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace that he lavished on us. With all wisdom and understanding, he made known to us the mystery of his will according to his good pleasure, which he purposed in Christ, to be put into effect when the times reach their fulfillment – to bring unity to all things in heaven and on earth under Christ.”
Lord, in the face of our present sufferings and struggles, when we realize that we are in need of more, may we not rely upon our own ideas, strive to conjure up more through our own efforts, or turn toward the temptations of the world which will tax us further.
Instead may we turn to You, with all we have, be it great or small or with seemingly nothing at all. May we experience how You are the author and perfecter of our faith. May we be enriched by the peace that passes understanding. May we delight in the joy of Your salvation. May we receive forgiveness from Your living water until it flows through us, washing our hearts clean of sin and carrying the residues of resentment away.
Lord, may we experience renewal, refreshment, regeneration, and abundant life. May we persevere by the promises of scripture. May we press on by the power of the Spirit. May we love and bless others because we have the love and blessing of the Father.
Beloved Lord, may we have more to offer You, more honor to bring You, more to praise You, and more to bring glory to Your name. Help us to see more of the radiance of You, hear more of the harmony of You, feel more of the tenderness of You, breathe in more of the aroma of You, and taste more of the goodness of You.
Thank You, Lord, for being so much more! Thank You, for giving us so much more!
In the immeasurable, inexhaustible, eternal name of Jesus, amen.
So beautiful, Julie!! What a blessing to know and understand the depths of Jesus’ love and the “length” that He went to conquer sin (once and for all) so if we choose Him we have eternal life with Him! And, that He will walk WITH us in those hard times! ♥️✝️♥️
Thank you so much for the lovely feedback! We are so blessed in so many ways!
